Frank Barraclough (John Simm) is a hopeless romantic librarian who wishes his life was a little more exciting. Enter the enigmatic Miranda (Christina Ricci), whom he falls in love with at first sight. But the girl suddenly disappears and Frank goes to London to try and find her.
But Miranda is not what she seems, and Frank must make a decision when he finds out she's actually a con-artist working with a man named Christian (John Hurt). Moreover, their latest prey is the dangerous unstable Nailor (Kyle MacLachlan).
