Magic Alex

Magic Alex was founded in 1995 by vocalist Dean Taylor and bass player Simon Borkin. Over the course of next year they were joined by guitarist John Simm, drummer John McCormack and, finally, keyboardist Greg Saunders -- Taylor and Simm had previously been the founder members of the short-lived "Thrust".

With such influences as The Beatles, The Stone Roses and Velvet Underground, Magic Alex ended up becoming supporting act to Echo & The Bunnymen in several occasions.

After about ten years playing together and never getting round to signing a record contract, the group agreed to dissolve. In 2007 they decided to finally release their only album, entitled Dated & Sexist, and which would be available to buy via iTunes. A short film by the name of The Greatest Story Never Told can also be found uploaded at the band's account in youtube.

Brilliant and talented as they are, Magic Alex are still also one of the most unfairly under-heard bands of the 90s, despite finding a strong fanbase which included other band members such as Ian McCulloch himself.
