‘An Enemy of the People’ Press Night

Yesterday, John Simm attended the press night of An Enemy of the People, starring his Speaking in Tongues co-star Lucy Cohu among others. The play is being performed at the Sheffield Crucible, where Hamlet will open later in the year. Go to What’s on Stage to see the photos or click below.
Mr Simm also recently attended the A Midsummer’s Night Dream press night at the Rose Theatre in Kingston, Surrey. You can see a photo at the What’s on Stage website, too.

South Bank Show Awards 2010

A couple of days ago Mr Simm attended this year’s South Bank Show Awards, and you can find a few photos right here. Thanks to sunnyringo for most of those! The ceremony will air next Sunday, January 31st on ITV, in case you want to watch.

‘Moving On’ BBC press release

The BBC has released an official press release about the upcoming new series of Moving On, in which John Simm’s guest starring is mentioned. According to the release, the new episodes are due to begin airing later in 2010.
John Simm (Doctor Who, Life On Mars), Corin Redgrave (Turn Of The Screw, Four Weddings And A Funeral), Anna Massey (Hotel du Lac, Tess Of The D’Urbervilles), Robert Glenister (Hustle, Spooks), Gerard Kearns (Shameless, Mark Of Cain), Roy Marsden (The Green Green Grass, Adam Dalgleish in PD James adaptations) and Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting, Snatch) are to star in the new series of BBC One Daytime’s critically-acclaimed drama, Moving On, with Dominic West (The Wire, Mona Lisa Smile) directing one of the episodes.
Five of the episodes have now been cast and filmed. The series comprises 10 stand-alone episodes, all linked by the common theme of how to move on in life.

New Project: ‘Moving On’

The Liverpool Echo reports John Simm is currently filming episode five of the new season of Jimmy McGovern’s ensemble BBC1 series Moving On, entitled Malaise. He’s being directed by Devil’s Whore co-star and friend Dominic West in his UK directorial debut. Other cast members include Ewen Bremner and Susan Lynch. You can see a few shooting photos here.

‘The End of Time’ out today on DVD

The Doctor Who Specials are now out on DVD in the UK. The BBC has released two editions—one that includes the Winter Specials only (with the Confidential programmes as its only extra); and another one with The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars and both parts of The End of Time, which includes extras such as audio commentaries with cast and crew, deleted scenes, video diary… plus Confidentials. This set includes 5 discs.
Go get your copy/copies at your local DVD shop if you live in the UK, or order it through amazon.co.uk, play or your choice online shop. Likewise, the Complete Specials will get a DVD and Blu-ray US release on February 2nd.

Happy Holidays & Happy New Year 2010! After this brief holiday hiatus, I bring you a little treat. I’ve uploaded a nice interview from 2002 featured in The Big Issue. Mr Simm talks Crime and Punishment and 24 Hour Party People in it, among other things.
The Doctor Who specials came and went, so I’ll be uploading a few captures once the DVD is out. Also update the project page and add a couple of videos. Enjoy this for now!
