  • ‘Moving On’ DVD release

    Amazon.co.uk has series 2 of the BBC drama Moving On up for pre-order on DVD right here. The new series, which will star John Simm in its fifth episode, hasn’t been given an air date yet by BBC. Considering the DVD is being released on November 22nd, we can assume it will premiere prior to that date (if Amazon is accurate).

    Full casting for ‘Hamlet’

    What’s on Stage is reporting the full cast for this Autumn’s production of Hamlet:

    […] John Nettles—best known from his long-running TV role in Midsomer Murders and awarded an OBE in this month’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List—will return to the stage after a long absence to star as Claudius/Ghost alongside Simm and Michelle Dockery (as Ophelia), Barbara Flynn (Gertrude), Colin Tierney (Horatio) and Hugh Ross (Polonius).

    Also in the cast are: Dylan Brown (Rosencrantz), Adam Foster (Guildernstern), Ben Lamb (Voltemand/Player/Fortinbras), James Loye (Laertes/Lucianus), Joseph Mydell (Player King/Francisco/Captain), Harry Lister Smith (Cornelius) and Roderick Smith (Marcellus/Player/Priest).

    ‘Hamlet’ tickets now on sale

    Tickets for Hamlet are now available at the Sheffield Crucible website for a price ranging from £12 to £20. The play will be on from Thursday September 16th to Saturday October 23rd.



    ‘Hamlet’ dates

    According to Sheffield Crucible Artistic Director Daniel Evans’s twitter, Hamlet’s press night will be on September 22nd. Tickets will be available for purchase next week for theatre members and in three weeks for the general public. I’ll pass on more information as it appears.

    Edit: What’s On Stage is reporting that Paul Miller’s production of Hamlet is to run from September 22nd to October 23rd (with previews from September 16th). The role of Ofelia has already gone to Michelle Dockery (The Hogfather, Cranford, NT’s Burnt by the Sun).

    New project: ‘Mad Dogs’

    According to The Guardian, John Simm is set to start filming a new Sky project titled Mad Dogs this week. The mini series is scheduled to be aired next year.

    Philip Glenister, Max Beesley, John Simm and Marc Warren are to star in Mad Dogs, a new Sky1 high definition drama about a group of schoolfriends who get more than they bargained for when they go abroad for a retirement party.

    […] Mad Dogs is due to air on Sky1 and Sky1 HD in four, 60-minute episodes in the spring of 2011. Location filming in Majorca begins this week.

    ‘A Century of Dreams’ out on DVD

    The Manchester United documentary presented by John Simm, A Century of Dreams, is now out on DVD in the UK. Go get your copy at your local DVD shop if you live in the UK, or order it through Amazon, Play or your choice online shop.

    Or if you want to try your luck, the Manchester United Official Website is giving away the DVD in a competition (you’ll need to sign up at the site).



    ‘Seven Days’ filming in Stamford

    According to the Rutland & Stamford Mercury, Seven Days (the Michael Winterbottom project being filmed over the course of five years) is still going strong, with new scenes currently being shot in Stamford. Go to their website for the complete article and a tiny blurry photo of the filming.

    Life on Mars actor John Simm was in town today to film his latest drama.

    Scottish actress Shirley Henderson, with other cast members and crew, was also in the High Street in Stamford today for the filming of Seven Days which follows the relationship between a man imprisoned for drug smuggling and his wife.
