The Sunday Times Magazine: Hold the Front Stage
 15 January 2010, 01:18 pm

I had previously missed uploading this Sunday Times article that came just before Christmas. John Simm is featured along fellow theatre actors and actresses to celebrate 2009’s stage success with a wonderful photoshoot. Enjoy!

  • Seven: Who’s the baddie?
     21 December 2009, 03:08 am

The Sunday Telegraph magazine Seven included today an interview with John Simm, in which he discusses theatre (Speaking in Tongues and the upcoming Hamlet) and Doctor Who, mainly. You can read the article and see the photos right here or following the link below.

  • Doctor Who Magazine: Back to Black
     13 December 2009, 10:14 am

Added the recent Doctor Who Magazine interview with John Simm about his upcoming reappearance in the series to the press archive. The pics used in the article itself weren’t new (you can find the promo pics here), so I just scanned the cover. Enjoy.

  • Old and new print articles

Got my hands on an old article (new for the site) from 1999, just before Human Traffic came out. Really short and none too revealing, but interesting nonetheless. Follow the link below.

  • 1999 | Introducing John Simm | Elle UK

  • More recently, in their January 2010 issue Q Magazine asked various artists about their choice Album of the Century. You can read Mr Simm’s answer below. Thanks to L for the heads-up!

Actor John Simm nominates Grinderman’s Grinderman (2007)
“He’s getting better as he gets older, Nick Cave. Filthier and dirtier. I saw him at a Doctor Who Christmas special, queuing up with his kids to get Doctor Who’s autograph, which was strange.”

Also, this week’s issue of Radio Times features a preview for the two upcoming Doctor Who specials. John Simm is, again, interviewed briefly. You can find the promo pic that came with the article here.

Simm describes his character’s latest incarnation as “emo Master”. Gone are the sharp suit and slick haircut of his prime minister persona in 2007, to be replaced by wild eyes and punk-white hair peeking out from a hoodie. He flashes in and out of “skeleton mode”. “This is a Master who’s lived and died,” explains Simm, “and now lives again—although he’s seen healthier days. He’s desperate, and desperate means dangerous.” Just the thing for Christmas!

Ambassador Theatre Magazine: The Master at Work
     21 October 2009, 08:15 pm

There’s a new article on Mr Simm and Speaking in Tongues in the Autumn/Winter issue of the free Ambassador Theatre Group Magazine. I’ve transcribed the interview and you can find it right here:

Also a reminder—there’s just a couple of days left for you to send a message for the Speaking in Tongues prize draw. So if you want to try your luck at getting a free programme, just follow the rules in the post below. Thank you!

    Two new articles
     19 September 2009, 10:27 am

There are a couple of new print interviews which have John Simm discussing his just premiered play Speaking in Tongues, the first from the The Independent and the other one included in The Times supplement Playlist. The second one is especially insightful, if you ask me.

  • 2009 | John Simm: ‘I don’t mean to seem cocky’ | The Independent

  • 2009 | Talking to… John Simm | The Times: Playlist

  • You can see a different photo at the online version of The Independent article, though. Thanks a lot to Lorna for The Times interview!

    Two new short articles
     14 April 2009, 12:26 pm

Promotion for Skellig hasn’t provided many new (Simm-centred) interviews or articles, and most of them used bits and pieces from the Press Pack—so I won’t be uploading those. However, there were a couple question & answer interviews last week:

Hope all of you who already watched Skellig enjoyed it (I know I did—massively)! You can check out Locate TV for repeats of the programme on Sky.

    More on ‘Skellig’
     28 March 2009, 12:27 pm

ITN has uploaded a video from the Skellig VIP Screening to their website. There’s no Simm in it, but you can see Bill Milner, Skye Bennett, Alexander Armstrong and David Almond being interviewed among others, plus a couple of brief scenes from the film. You can watch it here.

I re-uploaded the interview with John Simm from the Skellig Press Pack, since I was requested to hold on to it until the film’s broadcast was closer. If you haven’t seen it before, it’s a very good read.

More on the Radio Times Covers Party
     03 February 2009, 11:34 pm

The Radio Times website has uploaded a few more photos featuring John Simm at this year’s Radio Times Covers Party with his Life on Mars co-stars and Ashes to Ashes‘ Keeley Hawes. You can see them through the links below.

Also, this week’s issue of the magazine features an article covering the event, which includes a short interview with Mr Simm, plus one of the pics above. You can check it over here.
