‘Moving On’ DVD release

Amazon.co.uk has series 2 of the BBC drama Moving On up for pre-order on DVD right here. The new series, which will star John Simm in its fifth episode, hasn’t been given an air date yet by BBC. Considering the DVD is being released on November 22nd, we can assume it will premiere prior to that date (if Amazon is accurate).

‘A Century of Dreams’ out on DVD

The Manchester United documentary presented by John Simm, A Century of Dreams, is now out on DVD in the UK. Go get your copy at your local DVD shop if you live in the UK, or order it through Amazon, Play or your choice online shop.
Or if you want to try your luck, the Manchester United Official Website is giving away the DVD in a competition (you’ll need to sign up at the site).

The Manchester United Official Website has a brief interview with Mr Simm that you can read at their website or archived right here. Moreover, a DVD presented by the actor is set to be released this upcoming Monday:

On sale from 19 April.

‘The End of Time’ out today on DVD

The Doctor Who Specials are now out on DVD in the UK. The BBC has released two editions—one that includes the Winter Specials only (with the Confidential programmes as its only extra); and another one with The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars and both parts of The End of Time, which includes extras such as audio commentaries with cast and crew, deleted scenes, video diary… plus Confidentials. This set includes 5 discs.
Go get your copy/copies at your local DVD shop if you live in the UK, or order it through amazon.co.uk, play or your choice online shop. Likewise, the Complete Specials will get a DVD and Blu-ray US release on February 2nd.

‘Doctor Who’ upcoming releases

A new edition of the book Doctor Who: The Writer’s Tale, written by Russell T. Davies and Benjamin Cook, is set to be released on January 14th, 2010. The revised guide will include over 300 pages of new material and cover the last specials involving Davies as head writer of the series. You can already pre-order it at the BBC Shop.

Speaking about future releases, a DVD box with all the latest Doctor Who specials (’The Next Doctor’, ‘Planet of the Dead’, ‘The Waters of Mars’ and the upcoming Christmas and New Year specials) will be released on January 11th, 2010.
Unlike the other DVD set announced, this one will include extras such as cast & crew commentary (one of them probably by David Tennant and John Simm, as they discussed on the radio recently), deleted scenes, Tennant’s video diary and Doctor Who Confidential. You can already pre-order it at the BBC Shop too.

‘Doctor Who’ Winter Specials DVD release

Amazon.co.uk has already listed the Doctor Who DVD that will presumably include the upcoming special ‘The Waters of Mars’, plus the two Winter Specials (which John Simm will guest star in). According to the site, the DVD will be out on January 11th 2010, cover or extras included still not available. You can pre-order it right here.

‘Miranda’ out today on DVD

Film4 has issued a re-edition of the 2002 film Miranda on DVD, previously out-of-print. Extras included are interviews (with John Simm, Christina Ricci, Kyle MacLachlan, John Hurt, director Marc Munden and producer Laurence Bowen), trailer and featurette.

Skellig is now out on DVD in the UK! The film is presented in one single disc and contains extras such as interviews with lead cast (including John Simm), director and writer David Almond, and behind the scenes featurettes (make-up and special FX).

‘Skellig’ detailed DVD extras

Play has uploaded a more detailed list of extras for the upcoming Skellig DVD to be released on April 27th (you can pre-order it through Play itself, Amazon or HMV). They are as follows:
- Interviews with lead cast (Bill Millner, John Simm, Tim Roth, Kelly Macdonald), director AJ Jankel and writer David Almond.
- Behind the scenes—Special FX: Tour of the wings workshop with demonstrations
